A highly popular breed known for their beautiful, colorful eggs, these Americanas will give you an assortment of colored eggs from turquoise to olive, to light brown. The Americana breed comes from the Araucana and Ameraucana mix and has different color plumage variations. It is because of this genetic combination that our Americanas are not meant for exhibition. Mature birds are of medium size with pea combs. A pea comb is beneficial as it is a smaller comb that sits close to the head making it less prone to frostbite and helps reduce heat loss. They are extremely hardy and come in a wonderful combination of colors and color patterns. Americana hens lay approximately 240 eggs per year.
